did an excellent job of reducing light pollution and star bloat. I'm back to dark backgrounds on short exposures using CMOS without darks.
IT Will do what IT should do :)
I prefer OPT for most of my purchases since they have a large selection and it’s usually in stock. The LPS filter works, but to be perfectly honest, you are better off finding a dark sky site and not using it at all. As with most light pollution filters the trade off isn’t worth the money. Unless you enjoy post processing to get rid of the green hues and colors that is.
Hello. I received the filter in good condition and quickly. But I have not had a chance to use it at all yet unfortunately.
The IDAS-LPS filter is one of only a handful of broadband light pollution filters designed for imaging rather than for visual use. The destinction is important: visual filters concentrate on passing primarily green light centered around 480-510 nm - where the human eye sees best in low light conditions - while throwing away a lot of red and blue light. The IDAS-LPS filter cuts out only specific problem wavelengths that allow your camera to record accurate color while improving your Signal to Noise ratio by up to 3x by darkening the background skyglow significantly. Good for all camera types under all light pollution levels (the filter is designed with magnitude 4-5 skies in mind. The 2 filter is better with DSLR and 35mm cameras than the 1.25 due to vignetting issues.
