Mind Blowing Performance
This eyepiece is $159.00....$159.00... I still can't get over it! The view through this EP in my ED127 triplet is nothing short of incredible. Pinpoint Stars. that "porthole view" is something that takes a little getting used to but the stars are sharp right out to the field stop (if you can find it!). I have Televue's and they are excellent, but to be honest, this is every bit as good and possibly a tad better than my TV's! (I know it's heretical, but this eyepiece allowed my wife to see the Cassini division for the first time without using averted vision. Coupled with a ES 3X focal extender this is a powerhouse. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
first look
you want it to be a nagler type 6 clone but it isn't. the real-world eye-relief is nothing close to the claimed 15 mm. its much less than that of a comparable type 6 (I compared to 13 and 9 mm, at least not if you want to see much of the field. It reminds me of a short focal length orthoscopic. not a comfortable eyepiece to use. Its also notably heavier. but its not bad (I've seen bad if you compare its price to the nagler you are getting what you paid for.
