Explore Scientific 2" High Resolution Coma Corrector for Newtonians

Do you toil away at your scope, painstakingly achieving focus and taking exposure after exposure only to find the edges of your images exhibit blurry, slanted stars? The effect of traveling at warp speed might be fun as a novelty but coma - a naturally occurring optical aberration that effects the outer edges of your field of view - can put a major damper on your imaging efforts. Stop cropping your images! Take advantage of your full field of view and get an Explore Scientific High Res Coma Corrector! Compatible with even fast Newtonian reflectors, this corrector will fix or completely eliminate coma. Fully multi-coated optics, black anodized housing with a 2" barrel. Complete with .75" and 1" to T adapters for a secure connection. Includes protective cap to keep dust away and rubberized grip to ensure you have a firm hold on your coma corrector when making adjustments and changes in the field.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • You can attach and use with a camera ccd Qhy10?

Yes, this coma corrector comes with a T thread adapter, but you will need a spacer to put the QHY10 at the correct 55mm sensor spacing from the adapter. Please contact us if you have any questions.

  • Is available yet? The eq pro mount from celestron can hold it?

Gonzalo. The scope is not available yet; it's still being prototyped, so availability and exact price are still in flux. If you're referring to the CGE pro, I would go for a better mount like an MEII or AP 1600 because of the weight capacity.

  • How is this scope for visual use. i want to use for visual and ccd live viewing

John, The telescope would be fine visually athough it's more oriented towards imaging. It has a large secondary so objects like the moon and planets will be less contrasty than through a scope like a Schmidt Cassegrain.

  • Is this a focal reducer as well? If so what is the ratio (percentage change for F#)?

According to the manufacturer, this coma corrector extends the focal length by 6%.
