Coronado 40mm H-Alpha Personal Solar Telescope (PST)


Coronado has developed a series of telescopes as a result of the often asked question, "What is the best telescope to use with a Coronado filter?" While almost all refractors and most reflecting telescopes can be used with a Coronado H-alpha filter, no other telescope has been designed with all its optical aberrations and coatings optimized at H-Alpha. Most nighttime telescopes, when used at H-alpha, will not have the image contrast exhibited by a Coronado SolarMax nor the image quality. Most broadband coatings, used on such telescopes, will have reduced effectiveness at this wavelength and telescopes (particularly reflectors) not specifically designed for solar viewing, will exhibit unnecessary scattering and spurious light transmission. All of the Coronado scopes, even the PST, have been designed with this one wavelength of light in mind and will increase contrast and give you a darker background for viewing and imaging.

The Coronado PST’????????ƒ????????? (Personal Solar Telescope)...the little scope with the BIG image...incorporates state-of-the-art patented technology to provide superb views of both Solar surface detail and prominences. Sub angstrom H-A systems have long been cost prohibitive for the amateur. Designs other than the Coronado are difficult to use because of temperature and F-Ratio requirements. Not only does the Coronado PST solar telescope have a bandpass of <1.0 angstrom (the double-stacked PST has a bandpass of <0.5A!) but it is also thermally stable and requires no more time to operate than putting in a eyepiece and adjusting the focus. Safe solar observing in H-alpha for a fraction the cost of other solal filter systems is now a reality!

The Coronado PST represents the same technology and quality that goes into a SolarMax series telescope, but with a few unique design characteristics that allow us to offer it for less than some premium eyepieces. The Coronado Personal Solar Telescope will show you prominences, active regions, filaments, as well as other surface details. The Coronado PST telescope is made from milled aluminum, not plastic!

Celestron 102mm NexStar GT Computerized Telescope


The 102mm GT from Celestron is an easy to use telescope with a fully computerized Alt-Azimuth mount. Using Celestron's SkyAlign technology, setting up has never been more simple. Just point your telescope at any three bright objects in the night sky and the Nexstar 102GT will precisely pinpoint your exact location and sky orientation using an internal map of the sky. This 4" refractor features multi-coated optical glass, capable of gathering over 200x more light than the human eye. A long focal length of 1000mm means that colors and shapes are more natural making the 102 GT an ideal all around telescope capable of terrestrial observations of wildlife and landscapes or astronomical observing.

The NexStar GT mount is a light-duty computerized smart mount and includes an intuitive to use hand controller with over 40,000 objects in its database. Stainless steel legs are inclued as is an accessory tray.

Requires 8 AA batteries for power (not included). Optional AC and DC power supplies are available.
