Nice updated controller!
The newest version of the Celestron NexStar AZ hand control has a few nice new features. You can choose from a list of languages other than English. The keypad and display brightness can be changed, from dim to bright. Setting both on a dimmer level saves your night-adapted vision. Even a red-light display can be too bright. Also, the contrast of the display can be lightened or darkened, and the letters and numbers in the display can be set to "Bold" or "Regular." Very nice. The twin "Scroll" keys are angled upwards, making them easier to find in the dark when moving through the menus. The "Help" key in future upgrades will give answers to certain questions; in the meantime, that key is used as a quick-reference menu for the Messier list of objects. The same goes for the key in the lower left corner, with the Celestron "Swirl" logo: in future upgrades, this key will display certain extra information. All in all, a nice upgrade!
Nice updated hand control
I recently upgraded the hand control on my Celestron CPC 800 SCT from the earlier version it came with to the new AZ hand control. While having essentially the same alignment, catalogs and other important features, the new AZ hand control has some extras: a newly redesigned keypad, new contrast and brightness features to the screen and keypad lighting, and the ability to have it display languages other than English. The lower left key, with the Celestron "C-swoosh" logo and the "Help" keys will be used with further upgrades to the software. As of now, the "Help" key gives you the entire Messier catalog of deep-sky objects (which are also available in the "Deep Sky" menu, accessed from key 3).
