Product Details

  • The Celestron NexImage 5 Solar System Imageris a 5 mega-pixel color planetary imager. Capture high-resolution quick video color images of planetary objects in our solar system through your telescope. Then use the included software package to bring out amazing details and produce images rivaling those taken with astronomical cameras costing hundreds and thousands more.

Once installed, simply point your telescope at any chosen object and record a quick video. The included software will analyze each frame of video, throw away the fuzzy and odd frames, and then perfectly align the remaining frames. The result is a bright and clear image with the maximum amount of color and detail from the combined approved selections stacked as one great image. If you can see the planet in the sky, the NexImage 5 can image it.

    Mediocre for my use

Not very easy to use, IMO. Digital image is nott centered as the optical eyepieces I own, therefore not aligned to the sighter red dot.

    Good CCD for the price

This is a good CCD for the price. It is equal to a modified webcam with easy to use software. The CCD has met all of my expectations. I have taken some really good photos, which have impressed all my friends and family. It has a live video feed that would be useful at busy star parties. This will not work on deep sky objects. The only negative is it doesn't have a guide port for tracking. It will work as a guide camera, but requires an extra USB to RJ-12 adapter. It is not a deal-breaker in my book, because it works really well for the planets. For the price, this is a great tool to have in your kit.

    Exceeds Expectations!!!

Celestron NEXImage 5 planetary CCD. This going to be a fun camera to have. Received camera today and took it out for a test spin immaging Saturn through an 11 SCT same night. Simple to operate, period! The printed instruction manual is refreshing to have in hand as you walk through the whole process. If you have serious experience with planetary imaging or if you understand and have the patience forcusing during poor to fair seeing conditions, you are going to love this camera and are in for a treat!
