Celestron C8-A XLT Schmidt-Cassegrain OTA with CGE Mount Plate

This Celestron 203 mm (8-Inch) Schmidt-Cassegrain Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) with CGE Mount Plate is available individually to be used with your favorite mount. Each OTA is made to the same exacting standards as those used on all their high-quality telescopes. All optical surfaces are coated with StarBright XLT coatings.

Besides seeing all of the Messier Catalog objects, you can also see hundreds of other, less famous, but equally interesting NGC, IC, and Caldwell objects. Turn this scope to the planets and see amazing detail on the surface of Jupiter, see Cassini's Division in the rings of Saturn, and resolve details on the surface of Mars. Even the distant Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are within your reach.

This 8-Inch Schmidt-Cassegrain features a precision optical system with 2032 mm focal length, a focal ratio of f/10, and comes standard with Celestron's StarBright XLT coatings at no extra cost.

What's more- you have Celestron's guarantee of uncompromising quality backed-up with a Two Year warranty. Celestron warrants your telescope to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for two years. Celestron will repair or replace such product or part thereof which, upon inspection by Celestron, is found to be defective in materials or workmanship.

OPT Product Number: CE-91024-XLT

Please Note: This optical tube assembly comes with a 3-Inch dovetail and will attach to mounts such as the Celestron CGE Pro or CGEM, the Losmandy G-11 and newer GM-8, Software Bisque's Paramount, and mounts by Astro-Physics. dovetail mounting bracket

incorrect dovetail bar. I asked your sales via email if the OTA I was ordering would fit on my Orion Sirius EQ-G Equatorial Mount. He emailed me saying that it would fit. The Dovetail bar on the scope is 3 inches wide and impossible to fit on my 1.75 mounting saddle.

Wow!!!

I used to make my observations with my 200mm F/5 newtonian. I live in Brazil's biggest city (Sao Paulo - "Saint Paul") with a very heavy light pollution (and a "dirty" atmosphere). The newtonian was too big and heavy to be moved quickly to a small town inside and back to home. So, I sold the my newtonian OTA and bought a more portable Celestron C8 Starbright XLT OTA. I thought C8 would be better with moon and planets and but not so good with DSOs. I was wrong! The C8 has a very good resolution even with standard 1.25" eyepieces. It do a very good job with higher magnification and still remains illuminated. Star clusters (Omega Centauri, 47Tuc) could now be seen now bigger and more clear. "Nebulosities" like the Sombrero galaxy, Orion's nebula, Jupiter's Ghost are still well visible and clear in my big city. The astrophotography capability looses from a F/5 to an F/10 OTA, but you can reduce this disadvantage with a 6.3 focal reducer and field corrector. In overall, I think I did a good barter.

optical quality

Just got the OTA the other day and luckily the sky was clear for First Light tonight. I was using another new toy I also ordered, the Explore Scientific 14mm 100 degree eyepiece. I can not even describe my joy with what I saw tonight. My older Celestron Ultima 20 to 30 years old? Was having issues so I replaced it and the new scope is tack on! Jupiter had cloud bands I could not see with my old scope. The Moons had substance not just pin points.I actually could see ALL six stars in the Trapezium in the Great Orion Nebula. I've only seen those six stars in a home built 18 " Truss Dobsonian one of our Club Members built. I used some other eyepieces and had great results. Was worth every penny I spent on it.
