This is a mid range price wise eyepiece, and in my experience it is very good. I have an older 1984 vintage Celestron C8 that I recently bought and these eye pieces are the perfect eyepiece for this telescope. Very good performance
When I bought this, my main intent was to use it for very fine tuning of the collimation on my 8" SCT using mag 2-3 stars because the 5 mm focal length would give 400x on the scope. I wasn't expecting much of a fantastic view because such high power is starting to push the limits of viewing on my scope. But then... SUCCESS and WOW! Once the scope was collimated to high precision using this eyepiece in the final process, I was pleasantly surprised (thrilled, really) to see (with this eyepiece and others) some outstanding views of planets, nebulae, double stars, the Moon, etc. I was able to resolve details I'd never seen with my particular scope before. That night, I had originally intended to collimate, look at a few things really quick, then pack up and go home. Well, six hours later I was STILL out observing and having a great time! This eyepiece immediately became one of my go-to pieces of equipment for routine observing. In addition to the great views, I also love the way it feels in my hand! Unlike the smaller typical 1.25" eyepieces, I can actually hold this one and manipulate it with cold hands that have lost their dexterity.
