Baader 31mm Hyperion Aspheric Eyepiece - 1.25"/ 2"Baader has taken wide field eyepieces to a new level with the Hyperion 31mm Aspheric Eyepiece, bending their considerable technical expertise towards the creation of a refined and effective wide field eyepiece. The aspheric surfaces used within these exemplary new eyepieces utterly eliminate eyepiece aberrations in a much cleaner and more efficient way than was previously possible, utterly bypassing such pitfalls as extra lens elements, excessive size and weight, or higher cost.
Baader's Hyperion Aspheric eyepieces have been designed with projection imaging optimization in mind, and where created to be compatible with all Hyperion Digital T-Rings. This means that the Hyperion Aspheric Eyepiece can be attached to an incredibly wide array of cameras as well as telescopes. The design makes very efficient use of 2"X24tpi SCT threads with the 2" barrel. This feature allows these splendid eyepieces to attach directly onto the rear cell of most SCT's for maximum imaging rigidity.

I bought this eyepiece after getting a recommendation on an astronomy forum. The recommendation was to buy a Hyperion rather than a Nagler. The aspheric design reduces light loss through multiple lens elements and yields a beautiful view.
This is a fantastic eyepiece that delivers pin point stars with great contrast across its wide field. Only at the extreme edge were there any indications of coma. I am very pleased with this purchase and at its price I do not think it can be beat. Anyone looking for a top quality wide-field 2 eyepiece this is it.
This eyepiece has replaced the 32mm TV Plossl that used to be my main low power eyepiece. On-axis transmission and contrast are actually a touch better than the Televue product, and the field is significantly wider even when used in the 1.25 focuser. Astigmatism is very low, field curvature is visible but minor, and angular magnification distortion is almost nil. It's a pleasure to use, easy on both the eyes and the focuser drawtube, and the price is right. For me, it's a keeper.
