Best Eyepiece in my Kit by a Mile

I love this eyepiece. I took it to a star party this weekend and got the best reactions to the planets I've had yet from the 700+ people who took the time to take a peek. OPT also did a phenomenal job handling a shipping hiccup (a problem with UPS) and were a pleasure to deal with over the phone. I will be back for the hyperion 10mm!

A real Find

I have used the eyepiece at both f6 and f10. This is an ideal low power eyepiece at f6 in moderately dark locations. It is sharp over roughly 60% of its wide field, and the sharpness fall off from there is gradual. Another real strength is the contrast it offers. It's fun chasing dark globules in the Milky Way. At f10, the eyepiece is good for medium power planetary viewing, and smaller clusters. Center sharpness is very good, and the coatings on this eyepiece are better than my older Teleview and Meade series 4000 Ploessls. At these prices, what's not to like?

Hyperion 24mm

I purchased this eyepiece from OPT and it has quickly become my favorite. It's a sizable piece. I was not initially sure it would work well in my ETX125. It works extremely well. I have a 20mm Meade QX and a 15mm Televue Panoptic (as well as a series of the Meade 4000 Plossels. What I like about this eyepiece is that it has nice contrast, great eye relief and a super wide field of view. For the price, this seems like a spetacular eyepiece. I am very happy with my purchase.

Baader Hyperion Eyepieces

These eyepieces are outstanding performers at an extraordinary price. I own the 24mm, 17mm, 13mm, and 8mm (purchased during the 2007 sale. They work extremely well in my Celestron F8 6 refractor and in my Stellarvue F7 80mm NHNG. Pinpoint stars, very good contrast, and little edge distortion. They also perform well in conjunction with my UO 2.8X Klee Barlow. I consider their FOV tailor-made for slower refractors. And the eye relief is pretty good as well. Fit and finish is superb for the price. Highly recommended.
