- North Stars
Excellent, I can see a lot and it's on top of a 6 inch Newtonian. I can even get the North Stars' little companion. Not working with the old Barlow thou that's o.k. it's 1000 times better.
I have a Celestron C-90 spotting scope that I use for birding and I wanted a 25mm 0.965 in. eyepiece for it. I went online searching for it and was amazed how difficult it is to find one with a 0.965 barrel. I found the Antares 25mm Plossl at OPT and it is truly a great value. It performed very well and I subsequently purchased the 12.5 mm eyepiece and I am satisfied with it as well. For any future optical needs I will try OPT first. Highly recommended!
I enjoy using this 25mm eyepiece. I wear glasses and i have no problem using it while wearing my glasses.
I just purchased this eyepiece for my trusty old 114 mm F8 reflector. Being a .965" eyepiece I expected it to be a toy, however the optics and assembly are the same as a 1.25" eyepiece, and it is solid with both good build and optical quality. A slight quibble is that the barrel isn't threaded, so it doesn't take filters, but that doesn't really matter for the purpose of this eyepiece. At 36x the field of view is substantial showing the entire sword of Orion and the Pleiades with nice crisp star images, good eye relief and (even though the sky and weather conditions at the time of this review weren't great) it shows the nebulosity in M42 quite well. As the saying goes, eyepieces are half the telescope, and it expands the capability of my old scope quite considerably. PS: There was a glitch in the delivery, but it was sorted out efficiently and promptly by OPT.
Ease of ordering and delivery to Australia was super easy and fast. Would highly recommend this company. Items were as described.
I bought this to replace the wide-field eyepieces that came with my old Tasco 11TR reflector and Jason 280X refractor. What a difference! The Antares 25mm breathed new life into these old scopes. I especially love the nice wide swath of sky I can see through the reflector. M57, M13, M31, Perseus double clusters, no problem! Stars and planets are crisp and sharp in the refractor. Solidly built. Great eye relief. Wish a dust cap was included, though. NB: this series of eyepieces is designed for the old .965" specification, not 1.25" or 2".
