      Questions & Answers

      Ask a Question
      • What means 7-77 latitude? Can I use it in Duitama Colombia, ubicated in  Latitud: 5.817, Longitud: -73.033 ?

7-77 degrees latitude means that with the tripod level, the mount can be adjusted from 7 degrees north or south to 77 degrees north or south. To get to 5.8 degrees latitude, you will need to raise the back leg of the tripod 2-3 degrees and then adjust the

      • will this mount fit on a celestron 9.25 inch dove bar?

This Meade dovetail ring-set is meant to fit a "D-style" dovetail (4-inch width with 3.25-inch dovetail-flange), and will not directly fit a "Vixen-style" 1.75-inch dovetail. So it comes down to what you currently have installed on your Celestron 9.25. Th

      • Is it possible to monitor the images live with an iPad ?

No, or at the very least not at this time. There is at least one way to go about viewing captured videos on an iPad or other tablet, but not in real-time/live fashion. We get to find out what the future holds :-)

      • Dear Seller, how are you? I'm thinking to use this mount with my Celestron 8 SE OTA - what do you tell me about the capacity of this mount to astrophotography with my OTA? Is it compatible wiht Celestron StarSense? Best regards, Marcio

The Advanced VX mount has a stated visual capacity of 30 lbs, though I would caution a user to keep the load for imaging below 20 lbs for stability. An 8" SE optical tube weighs 13 lbs, so you have a little bit of leeway for the camera and guiding hardwar

      • Whats the closest near distance the telescope can focus on.

The manufacturer does not list this spec, but it depends on how many extension tubes you use. The farther out you rack the focuser, the closer the resulting focus will be. If you add an extension like this http://www.optcorp.com/orion-1-25inch-eyepiece-e

      • What is the outside diameter of the tube on the Celestron #ut7242 102mm refractor in open box special?

The outside of the tube is 100mm in diameter. It fits the same rings as the Celestron Omni 102R and the Vixen or Skywatcher 80mm and 100mm ED refractors.

      • Hello. I have a Orion ED80T Telescope and was thinking of using the Celestron VX Mount. could you tell me what I would need to attach the scope to the mount. Thank you

The Orion ED80T has a Vixen-style dovetail foot on the bottom that will connect directly to the Vixen-style saddle on the Advanced VX mount. No accessories are needed unless you choose to remove the foot and replace it with 90mm rings and a Vixen-style do

      • I have an old orange fork/wedge mounted C8. What would I need to mount this OTA to this AVX mount ???

What you need to get in order to attach this optical tube to your Advanced VX is the ADM V series dovetail for the Celestron C8. This dovetail will not only allow your Celestron C8 to be attached to the Advanced VX mount but any mount that has a Vixen si

      • What is the warranty for the Celestron AVX Mount?

Celestron warranties the Advanced VX Mount for 2 years from purchase-date. Please contact us directly, via email (opt@optcorp.com) or phone (800-483-6287), if you have further questions on Celestron's warranty.

      • Does this mount come with polar finder scope?

The Advanced VX does not include a polar scope. It is fully compatible with the CE-94224 polar scope for the CG5/CGEM mounts: http://www.optcorp.com/celestron-polar-finder-for-advanced-series-cg-5-mount.html.

      • Compatible with Sky-Watcher Equinox 100mm?

Unfortunately, it appears that the focuser for the Equinox 100 is different than the one for the Sky-Watcher Pro 100ED. This is important because this reducer/flattener is designed to thread to the 56mm threads on the Pro 100ED drawtube when the 2" visual

      • Will the audiostar II work with a 10-year old Meade Polaris DS 114 scope? I have a 492 controller and I downloaded the 505 Autostar suite software into my computer.

Unfortunately, no. The Autostar 492/494/495 and 497 Autostar models are all self contained computer units, while the Autostar II is a distributed architecture system where part of the "brain" is in the controller and part is in the LX200/400/600/850 mount

      • Will the audiostar II work with a 10-year old Meade Polaris DS 114 scope? I have a 492 controller and I downloaded the 505 Autostar suite software into my computer.

The new audiostar  controller works just fine on my DS 2130, should also work on the DS 114 but for sure will not work on a LX 200, works on the LX 90 also it is an upgraded 497 not an upgraded AutoStar II.

      • I'm thinking of putting my Orion 10" f/3.9 Astrograph Newtonian Reflector Optical Tube Assembly on the Celestron Advanced VX Computerized Go-To Mount. What equipment will I need, if any?

A good scale. With respect sir... The OTA is quoted on Orion's site as 25.5 lbs. Add your eyepieces and other essentials into the equation as well. The Advanced VX mount has a stated visual capacity of 30 lbs (at absolute most). Do note: Celestr

      • Can you recommend a carry case for this tripod?

Hi, this Steve. Here is the link for tripod case which would work for you. http://www.optcorp.com/orion-soft-carry-case-for-meade-lxd55-75-mount.html If you have any other questions, please call me at 800-483-6287. Thanks

      • Is the AVX's housing made of metal or is it still plastic like its predecessor, the CG5 mount? Thank you!

The mount head is made of metal, but the motor housings and power panel are made of plastic. They are lower profile and much better placed than on the CG5 (DEC motor housing no longer rotates and cannot hit the mount in any position). The quality of the

      • WHAT ADAPTOR DO I NEED FOR A CELESTRON CELSTAR 8 SCOPE

You will need ADM VC8 seen here: http://www.optcorp.com/aa-vc8-v-series-dovetail-bars-8inch-celestron.html

      • I want to purchase a Orion 8" F/3.9 Astrograph Reflector with this Mount, What would I need to mount it?

You would need to verify that you had a suitably long V-style dovetail (long enough to connect to both rings), and then you would need to purchase at least one additional AVX counterweight to balance the weight of the telescope you are looking to mount.

      • I want to purchase a Orion 8" F/3.9 Astrograph Reflector with this Mount, What would I need to mount it?

To mount the Orion f/3.9 Newtonian Astrograph to an AVX mount you will need to purchase a Vixen dovetail bar. However, We do sell the AVX with a TPO 8" f/4 Imaging Newtonian that would compete with all the hardware that you need. Here is a link to the pr

      • I have a older style Celestron 8 SCT on a old German Equatorial Mount with clock drive and Sky Sensor. Would this tripod be a good replacement? I am getting into astrophotography. Thanks Dave

Hi Dave, I think the VX would be a good mount to get started in image with your 8" Celestron. A lot depends on what kind of imaging you do. It would work great for lunar and planetary, especially using a webcam type of camera. It has a bit of a long f

      • Evo 8 or Evo 9.25 mount?

This used mount is the 9.25" version with the larger 2" CPC tripod.

      • I have a Levenhuk 90 mm Pro (41" long & about 11 lbs) refractometer with 'rings' & which produces really good images, but I want a contempory Go-To Eq and I am wondering how I could connect it to the Advanced VX.

If your rings can accept either 1/4"-20 or 6mm screws from below, the answer is to get the Celestron universal CG-5 rail CE-94213 (https://www.optcorp.com/celestron-universal-mounting-plate-cg-5-94213.html).

      • Where is this mount made?

Good afternoon and thanks for asking. The Celestron mount is manufactured in China and then shipped to the US.

      • What equipment would be needed to mount a Televue Pronto scope on the AVX?

All you would need would be a compatible Vixen-style dovetail with two 1/4"-20 screws to attach the dovetail to the TeleVue clamshell ring. An AA-VDUP7 would be a good match.

      • What is the counterweight bar diameter of this mount? Thanlks

The counterweight shaft diameter is 20mm for the AVX.
