Product Details

The Celestron Advanced VX (AVX) computerized mount is the ultimate mid-range telescope mount that is perfect for any astronomer looking for a reliable foundation for their system. Designed for beginners and experts alike, the Celestron AVX provides advanced tracking and overall performance! By utilizing Celestron’s innovative All-Star Polar Alignment software for easy alignment, it provides permanent periodic error correction, so your mount learns and improves as it’s used, and adaptable hardware to suit almost any system.

This mount also includes software co-developed with the famous PlaneWave Instruments, providing one of the most advanced astronomy software suites available. Whether you’re just getting into astronomy or have been around for a while, the AVX mount is an excellent choice for both visual astronomy and astrophotography.

Celestron’s AVX mount brings an array of astronomy software and functionality generally only reserved for high-end, observatory-class telescope systems. You can save and re-load your alignment settings for next time use. The All-Star Polar Alignment software makes polar alignment quick and easy! Get a quick start to using your scope without the normal tediums of aligning. Included with all of this is a free download of Celestron’s Starry Night software to both provide fascinating information on the celestial objects above and to guide you through our cosmic journey. Plus, most of this functionality is operatable over WiFi!

In keeping with Celestron’s goal of making astronomy accessible to as many people as possible, this German equatorial mount is lightweight and intuitive in design. Often you’ll find that with equatorial mounts comes a level of complication that can become too common in this amazing hobby, but the AVX doesn’t fall into that category. Pop it on to nearly any tripod, set up your scope, polar align with the included software, and you’re ready to go!

Compatible with all but the Losmandy D style dovetail plates, the AVX can accommodate a massive selection of telescopes with its dual-saddle plate design. From narrow CG-5 dovetails, to wide CGE dovetails, and even Vixen-style plates up to 100 mm, the Celestron AVX is more than capable of handling most small to mid-range telescope OTAs. There’s a good chance the scope you already have is compatible with this mount, so what are you waiting for?

I haven't yet been able to use this mount. But I really like it.And I'm looking foreword to using it soon.

After waiting for months, too many, I got a big package at the door, low and behold, the optic scope... Got the box opened and Wow, nice. I looked it over and was amazed with the tube. I went to mount it on the evo arm mount and the dove tail was too big for the mount, bummer, but after looking the tube over, I took the dove tail off my evolution and swapped them. When I ordered the scope, I said I need the narrow dove tail to fit the mount, ok done deal. Well never happened, but I got the scope any how. Now after mounting and getting it all ready, after READING the manual, took it outside and looked at the moon and what a view, so clear and perfect. I now have to wait for the weather to give me a break here in Hawaii. Now is the problem with the change in weather this year, will have to just wait for the right time. But I am happy with the unit, and have installed my starsence and auto focuser on board which makes it easier to operate. I did get the finder scope with the unit but its more of a problem to use that my laser pointer, and with that pin pointing a star is right on. Thanks to OPT for the Optic 8"HD, very happy to make the move and get it. Its worth the time of waiting, through the Trump screw up and being locked down all this time.

    Issues at the start

Under the circumstances I had no issues waiting for the product and it is very sturdy. I just wish I could use it. It has not worked since it arrived and I had to send it to Celestron the day I got it for repairs. Support was easy to work with but I shouldn't have to use them day 1.

Should have bought this the first time around.

After 2 weeks of clouds/rain I finally got to put her to use. Took a 3 minute exposure of Orion last night with no auto guiding and NO star trails. See the one shot image. It is no whimp of a tripod with the 2 inch legs. I would highly recommend. Polar aligning with Sharp Cap was a pleasure. Shipping was the same day!

    Amazing, Simple, High quality.

I've had my C8HD for about 5 months now, and all I can say about it are good things. F/10, While slow, can be overcome with long exposures. I'm using it on my Hypertuned CGEM II mount, ZWO OAG, ZWO M42 Filter Drawer, and Optolong CLS and it is having no issue doing exposures over 5> minutes. While it is a larger tube, it is surprisingly easy to handle due to the large CGE plate, and the handlebar that sits on the image train end of the scope, which makes balancing SO MUCH EASIER. Works wonderfully, and I can say without a doubt is probably one of the best scopes on the market. Images: Orion, 15 x 60s, The full rig, and M66 and 65 145 x 30s (poorly processed, one of my first shots with it).

    First telescope and mount

There is a learning curve. It is winter and clear skies are less prevalent, but taking advantage of clear nights I have rapidly mastered polar alignment and star alignment. I purchased this for Astro photography and am making headway. I need to get guiding to work to open up my path for longer exposures. Ask me again in a few more days!
